SAP BI (BW, BO) is one of the most sought after certification these days. It is a technical course of SAP NetWeaver. Junior Consultant: (The beginner)

You will begin your career as an SAP BI (BW, BO) Junior Consultant. Most of the times companies do not expect you to have any hands-on experience before they hire you for this position, however if you are aiming to apply for some Big wheels you better get some prior experience. This way you always will have a better chance. Let us take a look at qualification and roles and responsibilities of a Junior Consultant:

Qualification:

  • Graduation/Post Graduation from a reputed University.
  • SAP BI (BW, BO) Certification*
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team Player

*If you are a computer science graduate or else do have some prior experience in data management; you may well apply for this position without certification as well. However for further growth in this field, certification becomes inevitable.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Identification and activation of Business Data
  • Extraction of Data from various data sources
  • Handling Data loading issues
  • Creating Various Data Models for the purpose of Business Intelligence
  • Transportation of data and analytics from one environment to another.
  • Co-ordinate with business analysts while raising requirements from customers

Reports to: Senior Consultant

Senior Consultant: (The Expert)

When you know BI in and out and can do ETL (Extraction, transformation and loading) even in sleep you are eligible to apply for the role of a Senior Consultant.

Qualification:

  • Minimum Experience 5 years
  • SAP BI (BW, BO) Certification
  • Fully aware of other SAP NetWeaver tools
  • Experience of at least 3 fully implemented projects

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Define and Manage BI deliverables
  • Formulate Key BI technical requirements
  • Do the as-is analysis of the data warehouse and create future model solutions
  • Design, Develop, test and implement presented and approved solutions.
  • Train and Manage Junior Consultants

Reports to: Project Manager

Project Manager: (The Decision Maker)

Reaching this role would take some decent time but it is definitely worth it.

Qualification:

  • Proven Track record of implementing successful projects on time and under the estimated budget
  • Effective communicator with a global exposure
  • Leadership qualities
  • Complete understanding of all the modules of SAP
  • Excellent management and problem-solving skills

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead various customer engagements requiring SAP BI (BW, BO) at once.
  • Defining the current issues, requirements, and deliverables
  • Create and define models explaining the possible benefits post implementation to customers
  • Proactive identification, escalation and resolution of issues
  • Act as a counselor and mentor for other BI (BW, BO) associates’
  • Ensure adoption of Best-practices during Project Management.

Reports to: CIO / Head of IT
